It’s the fast-paced environment of real estate that keeps Kara Kenton Long coming back to the office each and every day.

Kara is a five-year member of the Bill McCoy Real Estate team, but has known and respected the veteran realtor for much longer than that – they graduated Lee’s Summit High School together in 1984.

“I appreciate his work ethic and his honesty and integrity. I wouldn’t work for him if I didn’t trust him.”

Kara first joined the real estate world in 1999, recently celebrating more than 20 total years in the business – a business that has certainly seen its share of waves.

“Right now, it is working with the new construction,” she said. “It’s kind of been a roller coaster ride for the last year and a half.”

Kara said the industry has seen huge changes and shifts in buyers and lending aspects, with offers often exceeding asking price.

“We have to make sure everyone’s protected, and that the buyers are still protected,” she said.

Kara sells all over Kansas City and markets the Estates of Chapman Farms in Lee’s Summit.

A Kansas City resident, Kara’s husband of 34 years, Darrell, is a retired member of the Kansas City Fire Department and they have three adult sons and two grandkids. Two of her boys are a paramedic and a firefighter and the third owns a heating and cooling company.

Kara said she and her husband love to travel, most recently forgoing international trips for Colorado, Arkansas and Florida.
